For a man of your frequent gadabouts one would think that you may have looked into a possible “vacation” to our lovely country and I’m sure the information collected would certainly have included some historical findings. All of the previously mentioned “bribe” selections are historical offerings.

I doubt Trev knows much about Beaver pelts, maple syrup or even who Celine Dion is. 🙂

And you were almost correct, england are awful. You'd have to fancy the Swiss against them on form.
...and you were right about France, too. No wonder I never bet money...

I've been to Toronto airport twice, does that count? Once was during COVID, had a flight to Montreal and then to Mexico but when I arrived at the airport in London they said I couldn't go to Montreal because I wasn't allowed to enter Canada (covid rules) and Montreal airport didn't allow overnight stays... Stupid country 😉

I've heard and Beavers, syrup and the Swiss singer, yes. The rest I've no idea what you're on about 😀

Stees,

I told you Trev didn't know much about Beaver pelts, maple syrup or even who Celine Dion is. 🙂 He just proved me correct on that!!! No wonder Canada wouldn't let him in. 🙂 I am sure calling the country STUPID was a big help to him after he was out of it!!!

With 16 of 24 teams going through to the next round, I agree. I would have predicted Scotland to make it as well and maybe even pull off a shock against Germany but their form as dipped since getting a few injuries.

Hard to pick a winner other than France. The rest are either average or professional chokers.

Portugal are good on paper, wouldn't be surprised ...[text shortened]...

Germany, Italy, Spain and England are capable off pulling off a shock win. England won't win it.
Actually France missed, I told you to have the Sapnairds in the picture.

They were extremely disappointing throughout the tournament and Spain have been excellent, still a close game yesterday though. The Spain equalizer was a killer, France looked dangerous beforehand.

Thta is the case. Often luck plays the decisive role. That is true for a lot of sports.

I don't think "Luck" had anything to do with Argentina beating Canada. They are the defending World Champs and right now the best in the world until someone proves differently.

Unlucky against Uruguay, third while pointless would have been a brilliant achievement... Getting to the semi was. Hopefully they'll go well at the world cup in a couple of years, should be good experience for that.

Does the national team from the country where the games are played get an automatic entry into the tourney?🤔

Yes, USA, Mexico and Canada all qualify automatically. Usually 3 wouldn't but the world cup is expanding to 48 teams I think it is. Japan and South Korea both qualified automatically in 2002 though. Going to be interesting at the next Euros, don't think they can allow 5 nations (if N. Ireland get their stadium built, which is unlikely for political reasons) to qualify automatically.
