Unlucky against Uruguay, third while pointless would have been a brilliant achievement... Getting to the semi was. Hopefully they'll go well at the world cup in a couple of years, should be good experience for that.

For what ever reason they decided not to go with their better players and even used their second Goal Tender in the game where they may have won 3rd and a spot on the podium. I can only assume they wanted to give their other players a chance, but will the opportunity present itself again. Hopefully they earned some respect which they didn't have going into this tournament. I saw a head but and other trips and holding that was not called, but I guess it happens on both sides. I know the Canadian Coach wasn't pleased with the officiating in some of the games. I heard one of the players say they were treated like 2nd class citizens. I also wonder what would happen if Canada had been involved in that scuffle in the stands after Uruguay last game, would their had been suspensions if it had been Canada involved? Something we will never know.

Yes, USA, Mexico and Canada all qualify automatically. Usually 3 wouldn't but the world cup is expanding to 48 teams I think it is. Japan and South Korea both qualified automatically in 2002 though. Going to be interesting at the next Euros, don't think they can allow 5 nations (if N. Ireland get their stadium built, which is unlikely for political reasons) to qualify automatically.

Well if Northern Ireland don’t get it built in time you could nip south to watch a match in the other Ireland.🤔👍

It's not an important match, good to play the fringe players which you might need in other games. I didn't see any of it but going to watch the final tonight, not uncommon for the bigger clubs and nations to get favourable referring unfortunately.

That makes good logic playing some the fringe players to see where there skill level is for sure and they did take it to a shoot out. I believe the referring was unfortunate for Canada all through their games. It probably is something you Nations who follow this much closer are just use to seeing. It certainly doesn't make it right. Canada did do much better than anyone including yours truly expected.
