Cisse had the potential to be one of the best strikers in the world, but his injuries have made him a very risky buy and a potential liability. Torres was bound to leave Atletico sooner or later, so Atletico got a good price tag on him.
On the other hand, Liverpool sell Cisse for a good price considering the risk I've mentioned (12m) but pay large for Torres (36+4m). I think Torres is a great player, but 40m sounds like a lot.
If I was an Atletico fan, I'd be waiting to find out who they'll buy with the remaining transfer fee to be happy about the deal.

In my opinion, he is NOT a monster nor a player that will pass to
history at all, just a guarantee of 15 goals per season.
To be really sincere? You can see him either both ways:
(a) A star because he is in a team that has won nothing for the last 10 years.
(b) A young player that cannot show ALL he has because he is surrounded by quite mediocre players.
My worry is the crowded defence part. Torres is quite clumsy in close
spaces, and I think that is clear from the fact that he does awesomely
in open spaces where he can exploit his strong, fast pace and kill in
the last 10 meters.
Maybe Benitez is thinking Torres can be a good substitute for counterattack play?

I am a Real Madrid fan, but part of my heart is with Atletico because of the coach, hehe
I thought the same about Cisse's injuries, but this morning I read a
very good point: His 2 injuries were really drastic, violent plays, that
would have injuried any player. So Cisse is not prone to injuries and,
instead, he recovers amazingly.
Plus, the Spanish league is not as hard played as the Premier, so he
can be more easy on that part.

i really want liverpool to challenge next year and I think that Benitez is a counter puncher by nature.
Liverpool played well against the big clubs this year but struggled against defence minded teams. Only Crouch seems to be able to have the close control and he lacks the killer 5 yd acceleration. They need Van Nistelroy or Drogba.

Pires always had the attitude to win the physical battle first and then show your skills. Reyes was the opposite. He became a target as he was often put off by fouls, I think it was more that he reacted and became angry than he was a coward.
Too often against tough opposition he went missing.
Although his ability to cross is good and his passing excellent he often did not look for the early long ball. For strikers it is very hard to time your runs off him. Pires was much better and got far more assists.
For most teams he would be a star, but for Real I would say you can find better. For me the top job for a winger is his crossing, so for me Beckham is far better than Reyes
