Even 80 innings with a 0.00 ERA?

Current stats for Hamilton vs Votto

Player.............BAvg......HR.....RBI.....Slg pct......OBP

Hamilton....... .376........20......53...... .771........ .431
Votto............ .321..........7......28...... .590........ .465
June stats for Hamilton and Votto:

Hamilton (8 games): 1 HR, 2 RBI, 6 for 34 .176/.243/.353
Votto (7 games): 2 HR, 9 RBI 16 for 28 .571/.594/.893

I had heard a stat last month that Hamilton was swinging at a higher percentage of 1st pitches than any hitter in baseball. Pitchers must have got the memo and aren't tossing him a 1st pitch meatball to get ahead anymore. It's now Josh's turn to adjust.

Of course, Josh could take the month of June off and Votto would still trail his numbers.

You are next "spin doctor"

He hasn't done that, so the point is moot.

Joey's already batting 22 points higher than Hamilton and has an OBP 87 points higher. Josh's HR production was freakish early in the year but he's coming down to Earth. Joey actually has more extra base hits than Hamilton already and for their careers there's little difference in their ratio of 2Bs to HRs; Votto 1.28 Hamilton 1.2. But this year at the start Joey has a 2.5 ratio and Hamilton a .56. That will change; I wouldn't be shocked if Votto exceeds all of Hamilton's Triple Crown Numbers by year's end despite Hamilton having better hitters in front of him and directly behind him.

Dusty mismanages the hell out of tonight's game with his pitching-go-round
and now Chapman can't get anyone out and has already given up another earned run,
coughed up a 3 run lead....and it isn't over yet. The funny thing was the first two
hitters Chapman faced were left-handed...one got a hit and the other got hit by his pitch.

Walks the bases full now. Dusty comes out to say "Dude, you are making me look like
an idiot". Here comes Cabrera and Fielder with the sacks juiced and no outs. Go ahead
run scores on a wild pitch and the lead is gone and that is two earned runs so far.

Phillips saves him making a great play on a smash up the middle for the first out.
Fielder strikes out for out number two.
Delmon Young coming up now. Phillips saves his butt again.

30 pitches so far and another inning to go.

Two ER in one inning and will take the loss when Valverde shuts them down.

Ugly, ugly, ugly game. Right now Chapman could not get his own grandmother out at the plate.

Looking ahead the Reds have a brutal schedule. They play mostly good teams like the Mets and American league teams like the Indains. Interleague play has traditionally been brutal for the Reds. In addition, they will then start a West coast road trip which is also traditionally brutal on them.

Right now they are tied for first place with the Pirates. I doubt that the Reds can hold on to first given their future opponents and how they are playing right now. Perhaps they will not fall too far behind and still make a run later on.

I guess the only bright part of the game was Frazier. I would consider moving him behind Phillips in the #5 position due to his clutch hitting. As far as clutch hitting, Bruce is a mess. I would consider moving him to the bottom of the line up if I were Dusty, but he won't.

Bruce had more hits yesterday that Votto.

You're ridiculous. The bullpen, which had been the best in the league, blows a couple of games late against a good hitting team and Chapman gives up some runs (the biggest hit, Jackson's, hit chalk down the LF line; that's baseball) and now you're ready to throw in the towel. Who's going to pass us into first: the Pirates? The Cardinals have been fading and are still 2 back and no one else in the division except perhaps Milwaukee is a threat. We're going to win the division probably handily.

Dusty made the right move; it just didn't pan out. Bailey had thrown 112 pitches and had to go and than Arredondo, Marshall and Ondrusek couldn't get the job done. The game was on the line in the 8th, Chapman hadn't pitched Saturday and we have a day off today so it was logical to bring in the closer. Who would you have brought in; Hoover? Simon?

Frazier's 2 for 24 batting 6th. He's doing fine hitting 7th and I don't think Dusty's going to change that. A hitter behind Bruce would be nice so he could get some pitches to hit with men on base.

Votto hit the ball well, just in the wrong places.

I have yet to see the Reds do well in interleague play or have a good West Coast trip. As far as the Pirates, they have owned the Reds the last two years.

All I'm doing is looking at trends that obviously have a reason other than blind luck. It would be nice to see trends change, but I'm not holding my breath.

I would not have taken out Arredondo after one hitter.
Then I would not have taken out Marshall after one hitter.
He wasted his pen and was forced to bring in Chapman for a MINIMUM of 2 innings work.

Here is the rub. If he was capable of 2 innings, why not start him at the top of the 8th?
The moves were grade school, or those of an exhausted bullpen, which the Reds
did not have.

Defend Dusty all you want, he screwed the pooch yesterday. Period!!

Well, Bruce hit it more better spots than Votto did then.

Whatever.
