He's also been "criticized" by team owner Nolan Ryan. Although what Ryan knows about hitting is beyond meπ π!
Maybe the Ranger fans will get so upset they let him come back to Cincinnati. π

Reds romp 7-2 to win their 10th in a row. Both the Pirates and Cards lose; Pittsburgh is 3 back and the Cardinals 7.5 behind.
Originally posted by shortcircuitAfter 10 wins in a row, you're going to lose some. Have you noticed what team shares the best record in baseball, SC? HINT: It ain't the Cardinals.
Didn't hear the daily Reds report. Oh well, I am sure they beat the hell out of the hapless Padres.
EDIT: I guess the team I am referring to is a half game behind the best record in baseball. My bad.
Interesting move today by the Reds picking up established closer Jonathan Broxton from the Royals. His WHIP is up and his K's down this year but he still has 23 saves in 27 chances with a 2.27 ERA, throws hard and is only 28 years old. Will he close? Will Chapman be moved to starting? It seems late in the year to make such a switch and Broxton is a free agent after this year. I'll be curious to see what Dusty does with him.

The Giants stealing Hunter Pence.
The Dodgers getting Shane Victorino.
The Rangers getting Ryan Dempster.
I suspect there will be many more moves made prior to the August 31st trade deadline.
Cliff Lee may be moved. I doubt anyone is going to claim him on waivers.
If Matt Garza gets healthy, he may also be moved.
Although he is rumored to be available, I can't believe Josh Beckett would be dealt.
Should be interesting.
We'll also see who the thoroughbreds are and who are the imposters.

No one EVER won a pennant in July, or even in September. (See Brooklyn Dodgers)
Best record now means nothing.
Best record at the end of the year means nothing.
(See Oakland A's when they played the Reds in the WS and got swept)
The team that survives all of the post season challenges and emerges victorious at
the World Series wins the prize, no matter how lowly they might be.
(See the Amazin' Mets in 1969)
There is a lot of baseball to be played yet.

Originally posted by shortcircuitWhat have the Pirates done in terms of acquiring more help? As for the Reds, they have already reinforced their bull pen, which is their strength, by attaining the Royals closer as well as Masaat coming off the DL with a fresh arm. With such talent, they have effectively shortened each game by about 3 or 4 innings.
Yep, although it may be the Pirates that get them.
And they have gone on a winning streak ever since they lost the best hitter in baseball.
