Wandy got another QS against the Reds tonight BUT:
In a game with playoff intensity filled with sparkling defensive plays, the Reds beat the Pirates 3-0. Latos went 7 1/3 scoreless AND hit a 2 run HR and Heisey had an inside the park homer. One lefty Garrett Jones doesn't look like he can hit is Aroldis Chapman, who threw 3 100 MPH fastballs by him to get the final out.

I'd like to know how it is a 'world series' when it only involves American teams. π

EDIT: 28.4% of the players in the majors were born outside the US.http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/7779279/percentage-foreign-major-league-baseball-players-rises

Now the Reds are winning not only without their best hitter, they are winning without their best 2 hitters. I'm wondering if they take the field with only 8 players today, with one hand tied behind their backs just to see if they can.
This team is sick.
Originally posted by no1marauderI'll admit, I'm not a big Dusty fan. I would say, however, he is above average in terms of managers. The success of the team is largely in part to the pitching. They have rivaled the Nasty boys of old. Their starting pitching concerns me a bit, but I think the relievers may be better than the Nasty Boys of old.

Well, can't win 'em all; AJ Burnett pitches a gem and the Bucs salvage the third game of the series, 6-2. Still taking two out of three and stretching the lead to 4 1/2 is a good weekend's work; the Pirates head home, where they've been very tough, for an 11 game homestand and the extra cushion looms large.
