There is no goal worth 7 points
Try is only worth the 5 points need the conversion to get the maximum 7 points.
A try should be worth more than 2 penalties ,to make teams pay for their consistent infringments(some of which are only to stop the opposing teams attack ) should (A) Warning (B) Penalty (C) Yellow Card (D) Red Card all for same player infringing ,i know this is what one of our refs does in our local comp.
I wonder if it would reduce foul play and speed up the game if all our new 2pt penalties were taken from a spot 30m out in front of the sticks. When you see the diving and dirty fouls in soccer they could have spot kicks for deliberate fouling anywhere.. it would clean up the game.. Ugh we could then see Argentine 52 Brazil 39 haha
Just put the clock back to 1960 and let the game sort itself out.

A "Goal" in rugby union is a try and conversion. This is a hangover from the original scoring method when no points were awarded for the "try" but for the "goal" (conversion) afterwards.
Up until the West stand a Twickenham was renewed just a few years ago there was still a column on the scoreboard for "goals"
Sorry if this caused confusion and made you think I know sod all about rugby - I still play regularly.
As for your warning ---> red card - our local leagues are the same - however the referee needs to be sure it is always the same player - I play 6 and have been yellow carded twice since they came out - now I would like to say I am whiter than white - however I just don't get caught as often as I might 😉
I still think scoring of all but drop goals has the right balance - coverted try (goal) can only be outdone by 3 penalties

What do you guys think of Eddie joining the boks?
It shows that there is a need for confidentiality clauses and intellectual property rights associated with sports tactics developed and used by top teams.
He has the secrets of the current Aussie front row and is obviously selling them to SA.
Originally posted by boarmanWe sure do.. Eddie Jones is taking up a consultant role with the coach of SA. he's a dirty dog all right but image the money involved and honestly say you wouldn't take it.. heck I'd go cheap.
Do you mean Eddie Jones?
When was that announced ,i hadnt heard.
If so he is a dog, nothing else than a rotten dog.Pretty low act ,all cause he is pissed off with Australian officials.
It's an interesting scenario...
Jones is piping up about "the professional era", where a coach is basically a consultant and not tied to a team/country.
Why not? It's not like there are any wallaby secrets he can disclose to the boks that will mean they aussies won't win a game against us ever again.
I like the idea of him helping the boks - he surely will be able to bring some imaginative ideas to our back-line - which is looking pretty flat footed at the moment.
Why is he pissed at the 'officials'?
Surely you can't just say he's a pig for wanting to further his international coaching career?

Originally posted by CrowleyThere is no problem with coaches or players of any sport changing sides but such exchanges do not happen immediately before a major tournament when you have been privy to the inner quorum of a major team.
Ed can't teach the bok forwards anything.
He is selling out current strategies and calls for money.. if you think he can't teach the Boks anything, great but that shows them to be rich fools.

Also, surely there are confidentiality clauses in any coaching contract?
I can't see that there is anything Ed can 'sell'.
I think this is just a case of the Aussies playing at their favourite past-time of whining again.
Originally posted by CrowleyCertainly not ,he doesn't have to "sell" anything ,he knows most of the players abilities and the little things they do and just has to pass them on .

Anyway im glad he is over there, just look at the tremendous effort he got out of Queensland this year, they were pathetic, plus he causes great disharmony amongst the players,no matter who he coaches.
Take him and never let him go .He will fit in quite well with that Springbok arrogance. 🙂
