Can my Titans win the AFC South this year? Please let it be so. LOL We are off to a great start at 2-0 and the Jags don't look like the darlings they were supposed to be this year and the Colts certainly do not look like their normal selves. While the Titans have struggled offensively, I think that Kerry Collins puts them in a better situation to win games than VY does. He can manage the offense better which is all that VY needs to learn how to do. He doesn't have to be an excellent passer, he just needs to be able to manage the game and not make mistakes. The running game will carry the offense, especially with Chris Johnson in there and the defense will certainly keep them in ball games. So far the Titans have played the best football and look to be the best team in the AFC South in my opinion. Their defense is SICK!

Don't count out Indy just yet. They're off to a rocky start but I still think they're clearly the class of the division. Tennessee does indeed have a great defense but until they get serious on the other side of the ball there's no way they can go anywhere in the playoffs.

Like I said all the quarterback needs to do is manage the game for them, whether it be Collins, VY, or even Chris Simms whom they signed this past week. Collins certainly played a pretty good game against a terrible Bengals defense. But the one thing the Titans need to do that they haven't done since D MAS left is get a BIG NAME RECIEVER. In my honest opinion they need to go sign Joe Horn, I know he's old but he's still a good receiver.

The key is Peyton Manning. He definitely didn't find his groove in the first game, but he did find it in the second half of the second game. If he gets back to his usual self, he'll definitely do well this year. And when that happens, the Titans will look for a wild card at best.

Key words being SECOND HALF OF SECOND GAME. He didn't look good in the first half, so for 6 out of 8 quarters of footbal he's played he hasn't been the Peyton we are used to seeing. And another key is the Colts rushing game, if they can't get their rushing game going, then Peyton's passing won't be as effective. Because defense will start playing the pass to force the Colts to beat them on the ground. And the Titans rush defense is as good as any if not the best in the LEAGUE.

I'm no football fan but I do know that most teams that are good against the run are good because they have outstanding cornerbacks.

Good cornerbacks allow you to go one on one with the receiver which frees up your safety and linebackers to clog the running lanes. 8 and 9 man fronts are tough to run on.

So, if Tennessee focuses on the PASSING game, they will by default, be sacrificing some of the run defense coverages. Or am I wrong?

Their cornerbacks are good but not as good as quite a few others in the league. Right now their starting cornerbacks are Nate Harper or is it Nick, and then Courtland Finnegan, who by the way does actually lead the league in interceptions at 3 right now. But the reason the Titans have one of the best rushing defenses is because of Albert Haynesworth. He is one of the most dominant run stopping DT's in the league. Haynesworth stops the run while Kearse and Vanden Bosch are the outside pass rushers.

So, (and i'm not trying to be a smartass here) it sounds like tennessee runs a 4-3 defense then. So just those 7 guys can stop the run? Wow, that is good. If you can play cover 2 all night and not have to blitz the safety while STILL stopping the running game, well you're going to have an easy time on D that's for sure.

No wonder i have the best Defense team in the RHP yahoo pool!

Yes they do play a 4-3 defense. Their other DT is Tony Brown I believe, and he himself had 2 of the 7 Titans sacks in week 1. Also by the way Chad Ocho Cinco, formely known as Johnson stated before the Bengals-Titans game that Courtland Finnegan IS one of the elite cornerbacks in the league even though not as many people recognize him. He held Chad Ocho Cinco to 4 catches for 37 yards this past week and recorded 1 pick.

Here is the Titans starting defensive lineup. At DE they have Jevon Kearse and Kyle Vanden Bosch and at DT they have Albert Haynesworth and Tony Brown. At OLB they have David Thornton and Keith Bulluck and at MLB they have Ryan Fowler. At SS they have Chris Hope and at FS they have Micheal Griffin. And finally at cornerback they have N. Harper and Courtland Finnegan.

And here are a few defensive stats for the Titans. They are 1st in points allowed at 8.5. They are 2nd in total yards allowed at 202. They are 7th in pass yards allowed at 141.5 and finally they are 2nd in rush yards allowed at 60.5.

Anyone doubt at all that the Titans can't win it now? 3-0 and the Jags and Colts are both 1-2 while the Texans are 0-2.
