Nice to see the US doing good, but still they have the home advantage and the teams they played were not up to standards.
It would be great to see a US - Mexico final.
The mexicans have struggled so far.
Either way, US v. Mexico should be a great game.
I think this tourney is another example of a theme we have been discussing for several months: the growth of world soccer. A number of the teams looked surprisingly good; honduras, guatemala, Canada, Trinidad, Cuba.
The elimination round pairings for the Gold Cup are set.
The stage is set for a Mexico v. USA final. Both teams need to get past some stiff competition to make it to the finals. Honduras and Canada look sharper than ever and the other four teams are always dangerous.
Should be exciting the rest of the way.
S1 : Canada - Guatemala
S2 : USA - Panama
S3 : Mexico - Costa Rica
S4 : Honduras - Guadalupe

Originally posted by Red NightThis is the inaugural year of Toronto FC in the MLS. It is a roraing success, and that is an understatement. Games are completely sold out. The fans cheer so loudly I can hear them from my house which is a good click or two from the stadium. I can't believe it wasn't done sooner.
Canada looks as good as I have ever seen them look.
Should be an exicting semi-final if both teams make it.
I'm surprised to see you routing for Canada...are there a lot of Canada fans in Toronto?
So given the excitement over TFC, a lot of people are starting to back the Canadian national team and even recognize some of the players. That in itself is giving the players that extra boost. Look for them to go far.

Toronto FC games have been super chippy, too. I know I made a joke in the forums earlier about soccer here but I take it all back. It's pretty exciting stuff for our city.
Toronto would be a great place to see a soccer game...it was always a good place to watch baseball.
Canada could win. They have a good team this year.

Oh nuts... the US will win... do not expect a single thing from Mexico,
I repeat (and mark my words), they will be defeated by Costa Rica.
The Mexican team sucks these days... horribly... and it will be like
that until Hugo Sanchez resigns.
😞
London bookies have them favored third to win the Copa america...frankly I don't understand that..but that is what makes the london bookies the best place to bet. idiotic english bettors so scew the odds that there is easy money to be made. I put a grand on the US to win at 40-1. Why not? Most of london was at 20-25 and vegas was 10-1.

continuosly make it to semifinals and finals, beating the crap out
of Paraguay, Uruguay, Ecuador, etc. etc. and falling only against
Argentinians, Brazilians, and once with Colombia.
Don't know why, but Mexico is always indisgest for South American
teams... same with the Copa Libertadores, where Mexican clubs
give a headache to the almighty Argentinian and Brazilian clubs.

Gold Cup first and then on to a first round match versus Argentina.
