The favorites. Who has fulfilled their favoritism. Who did not and why they didn't.

Group 29 - Talem16 (1683, 1843 at Jan 3rd) was the group favorite, followed by anom-asil (1581, 1680 at Jan 3rd) and Kingo ...[text shortened]... the England flag.

I think you've done a fine job, Gil and it would have made me happy to see either ThePO or InHisName out, but I can't agree with your assessment of their games. These were not short, "grandmaster" draws but hard-fought, complicated struggles which lasted 33 and 36 moves, respectively. The draw results in the two games were certainly legitimate esp. Game 874763, which looks like a dead draw to me. I might have been tempted to play out Game 874712 if I was Black which is a pawn up but White's minor pieces are very strongly posted. We've had games at RHP where clanmates have played a couple of moves and then taken draws against each other, but these games certainly don't fit into that category, IMO.

Thanks No1 for your appreciation!

About ThePO an In His Name games, I am agree with you... it was two real tough fights...

But I don't regret about my comments. I just want to have most people talking about those games...

Maybe we could have a 1st round best games selection, what does everybody think about?

What a game!!! 😲

The maneuvers in the queen side after the black castle... that quality sacrifice (25...Rxd5) to get a peace ahead after... the endgame... I'm not in the level to understand that moves...

Fantastic...🙄

I think that In His Name is a serious candidate to the 2005 Championship title...

In IronMan31 history, he has played Tebb 4 times, all of them draw games (Game 821900, Game 822060, Game 1096682 & Game 1096416).

ThePO has played IronMan31 4 times too and has lost all times (Game 482156, Game 709795, Game 709793 & Game 482157).

In His Name has never played IronMan31.

Fernando J P Vasquez has played 2 times and lost both times (Game 709794 & Game 709791).

As In His Name, nicohuyboom has never played IronMan31.

Northern Lad is now playing 4 games with IronMan31 (Game 810608, Game 810662, Game 1096687 & Game 1096741).

In his turn, cludi has a game in progress with IronMan31 (Game 810770) and had a draw (Game 810610) and 4 defeats (Game 596419, Game 596366, Game 809616 & Game 809562).

Perrys, as In His Name and nicohuyboom, has never played IronMan31.

Duhian has played 6 games versus IronMan31, 1 draw (Game 676708) and 5 defeats (Game 676707, Game 810609, Game 810716, Game 1044117 & Game 1044120).

TRACKHEAD21 has also played 6 games versus IronMan31, all defeats, 2 of them he has resigned (Game 812181 & Game 811975) and 4 of them was timeouts during his recent retirement (Game 993542, Game 993543, Game 990857 & Game 990858).

In 4 games against IronMan31, cbd had a draw (Game 567765) and 3 defeats (Game 567770, Game 822063 & Game 822117).

Tequila has played 2 games with IronMan31 and has lost both (Game 490043 & Game 490044).

So, except the players that has never played IronMan31, Tebb has the best results against him.

That's all I can say.

Maybe somebody in a better point of view can indicate another competitor in the 2005 Campionship 2nd round whose chess skills, could credit him as a serious opponent for IronMan31.

I must say that I became amazed with In His Name chess play when I saw his game with meman posted by flexmore in this thread at May 6th (it's somewhere above).

So I dare to say that In His Name, in his game 😲, can beat IronMan31... (I just couldn't resist the pun... 😀, EDIT 2: sorry Jesus... 😳:'())

EDIT: I checked David Tebb games and he has beaten meman 4 times and had another 4 draws.

I went through all the groups and found three games:
polarbear-rossoboy: Game 871483
rossoboy-polarbear: Game 871605
twchess-neldo: Game 870216

All games are far from finished.
The next round is, at worst, months away.

Incredible!! I've been holding down my games expecting about 14 with beasts like IM, Dave Tebb, In His Name, etc. etc. but now see that a handful of sluggards will apparently hold this tournament in thrall until it's 90 degress in northern New York! What is wrong with you people; 25 moves in over 4 months?????? I guess this blasts Flexmore's theory about 0 timeouts and large timebanks finishing faster than a 1/7 or 3/7!
