Why did we decide on 0/14? Those are pretty evil time controls. I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I mean, let's think about this... if I make one move a day at 1:00 and my opponent makes his move each day at 13:00, one of us will time out after just 28 moves! Isn't that rediculous? If I can't win in 28 moves, I'm going to lose?
Originally posted by AikoWell, you're not in my group... and if I'm out, then AThousandYoung will probably have it. But in all seriousness, don't you think this kind of time control is just silly? It said at the beginning of the thread that we'd probably be using a 3/7. Now it would've been okay to switch from that to a 1/14, or a 3/14, or even a 7/7 without mentioning it, but I think this kind of thing bears mentioning.
Heh heh, I don't mind...!

I PMed Russ. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but I'm guessing most of the participants won't be able to play with these time controls.
Originally posted by AikoYeah, you're right that I should've messaged Chris, but I forgot at the time. The reasons I messaged are that 1. I already made a starting move in my games, so I don't know if it'll have an effect or not, and 2. I'd imagine that most other people in this tournament will have the same problem as I do. I can't imagine they'll be happy about this either. We had no idea the timeout would be this short. I think that 75% of these games will be determined by timeout.
