Ahmed Adly is an Egyptian chess player who won the World Junior Chess Championship in 2007, becoming the youngest person and first Arab and African to achieve this. He was awarded the title of International Master in 2005, and the Grandmaster title shortly after in 2006. Adly has had various other victories, including winning the African Chess Championships in 2005, and winning the Arab Chess Championship in 2014. He was also a member of the Egyptian team that won the African Team Chess Championships in 2003, 2011, and 2016. He represented Egypt in the Chess Olympiads of 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2018 and 2020. Additionally, Adly won the blitz event at the 2015 Arab Chess Championship. In the 2018 Batumi Chess Olympiad, he notably defeated higher-ranked opponent Hikaru Nakamura, a former U.S Champion. He also played in the FIDE Grand Prix series in 2020.
