Robert Aghasaryan is an Armenian chess International Master (IM), Grandmaster (GM), FIDE Trainer, and FIDE Arbiter who was born on September 30, 1985. He earned the International Master title in 2003 and was awarded the Grandmaster title in 2010.
Aghasaryan has competed in numerous international platforms throughout his career. He played in the European Youth Chess Championship twice, achieving 5th place in 2001 and gaining 4th place in 2002. He also participated in World Youth Chess Championships in 2000 and 2003. In 2013, he won the 74th Armenian Chess Championship.
Additionally, Aghasaryan has an active role in chess education. He has been teaching chess in schools since 2011 and holding FIDE Trainer title since 2017. He is credited for training Aram Hakobyan, who became a GM in 2018 and Haik Martirosyan, who achieved the GM title in 2017.
Aside from his chess player and trainer career, Aghasaryan also works as an International Arbiter, a title awarded in 2017. As an arbiter, he officiated international chess competitions, such as the FIDE Grand Prix 2017 and FIDE World Junior Chess Championships in 2016 and 2018.
