Yuriy Ajrapetjan is a Ukrainian chess Grandmaster (GM) who was awarded the title by FIDE (Federation Internationale des Echecs) in 1993. He was born on September 16, 1959, in Simferopol, the capital city of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in Ukraine.


Ajrapetjan won the Ukrainian Chess Championship in 1987. He also represented Ukraine in several chess Olympiads, including in 1996 and 1998. In 2009, Ajrapetjan earned the title of International Master of Sports of Ukraine.


There have been various references to his performances in important international tournaments as well. Notably, Ajrapetjan tied for 1st–3rd places along with Sergey Shevchenko and Vitaliy Golod in 1996 at the Mikhail Chigorin Memorial in Saint Petersburg.
