I retired as faculty at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX, in the School of Music in the summer of 2020. I'm an active free-lance jazz pianist/vocalist, church musician (at Buda United Methodist Church), and an amateur watercolor painter. I've moved to Shodo and Sumi-e instead of watercolor after a flood in 2015 destroyed almost all my watercolor brushes. All water based, but very different techniques.
Played chess in high school when Bobby Fischer was hot. I got back into it in November of 2011.
My wife, Beverly, died in July of 2022. We were together 36 years, married for 28. Loved her madly. I have 3 cats and a dog (as of Jan. 2023).
