Chess Terms : Opening Explained

Opening

opening refers to the initial moves of a game – the first several moves that set the stage for the rest of the game. It involves developing pieces to useful squares, preparing for pawn breaks, fighting for the center, and ensuring the safety of the King (usually by castling). The opening phase usually ends when pieces and pawns are no longer in their original places and players begin to implement their planned strategies.
