I liked the show too when I was a kid.
I thought it was called SPACE FORCE 1999.
The ships were called Eagles.
A pity that no one said a word about "Maya". She was beautiful.

yeah, Maya was hot...and she could shapeshift into any animal, which is a most useful quality in so many situations!

I guess it would be hard to get past the fact that 1999 was 12 years ago, and there is still no moonbase alpha.

The shape-shifting was disconcerting for her man,
Commander John Koenig (Martin Landau's) love interest in the show was also a looker, though a bit old, a blonde doctor. Dr Helena Russel (Barbara Bain)

A sad fact that we have no base anywhere (except on the Antartic). The exploring spirit of Man is dying out. Is there this a space station out there?

The Nimoy in this show was the Professor Victor (Barry Morse) and this role was later taken on by Maya's real name was Catherine Schell
