As much as I love Floyd, I was surprised to learn that I'd never even heard of Roxy Music until a month ago, when I watched a RockDocumentary. It seems Roxy Music was the quintessential progressive rock band, and I completely missed them! How could that be?
Currently, the song that I continue to listen to over and over is 'Summertime' by The Sundays. I would crawl a mile over broken glass just to have Harriet Wheeler personally sing in my ear.

What I'm seeing are performances. Not sure if what is mentioned are great songs. A great song is timeless. It can be played a multitude of ways abd still retain it's beauty. The Gershwins were certainly great songwriters as well as Hoagy Charmichael,
A quick list for me would include songs such as
Mood Indigo
A Night in Tunisia
Bess you is my woman now
Unchained Melody
