Yes. But Dan Rather was the guy on the ground every night. He is the reason Pol Pot happened. You had to be there to believe it.

Sure we lost 65,000 troops. All (UN) nations combined.

But the vietnamese people never deserved the betrayal that cowards like marauder managed to give them. They are good people. they deserve better than slavery. Which ...[text shortened]... enough guts and brains to examine the world as it is, instead of how their chimp vote went.

Yet, Vietnam seems to be doing OK now? Where's the press presenting us with nightly reports of atrocious behaivior in Vietnam? It really does seem that the Vietnam conflict was more to do with kicking out the foreigners than any Communist plot.

Are you sure?

How would you know? Which western news agency do you watch to get your news out of viet nam?

Be careful. There are none. Twice a year, the dictators accept the bribes. The ones who are known to be communists are "invited" to do a story. Then they are booted out.

Have you ever wondered why thirty five thousand people per year kill themselves on the seas in little homemade boats trying to escape vietnam?

It wouldn't hurt to study it a bit. Do you think?

You got me there, little or no info do I have, only that Vietnam is currying US goodwill as late.

I doubt this. I saw, and still do, that conflict as more of an anti-colonial war than as a step towards international Communism, controlled by Moscow (or Peking, even then the ultimate boss was confused)
BTW, its crazy to demonize Cuba.

That is fair. You didn't 'reject' it out of hand. That deserves a response.

Let's take the Cuba route.

This was written 19 years ago.

Read this post. Examine the professor on the net. See if he had reason to lie.

Then research up till now. Cuba is a virtual slave state.

Does that deserve our respect? Show me where we should "let up" and be lenient on dictators who treat their victims as property. That will just about do away with my argument. Won't it?
