@sonhouse yes but the USA is really nowhere near socialist, I am a member of the Labour party & Momentum and I reckon hal of the Labour party are not true socialists.
America isn't socialist to the point of collective ownership of industries. But we have - and value - and can't live without - some other important pieces of what can broadly be referred to as socialism. We own our government together - equally.

Sort of like American democracy. Oh. It’s a term, it’s just got squat-diddley to do with democracy.
