Estimated GDP in 2050.
China $58T
India $44T
US $34T
T = trillion
That's only 32 years in future.
US might not even exist anymore.
Fractured into 2 or more virtual countries.
Division is already clear to see today.
Oh !! And the wall, if it is ever built will be a tourist attraction visited by Chinese and Indians.
A relic and a monument to a misguided ideology.
Originally posted by @mchillGroups certainly evolve and names like liberals and conservatives certain will change but I don't think America is unique in this way. There will always be group(s) that want the government to expand and take immediate action to correct perceived injustices. These people will be more likely to force individuals to redistribute income and rights and to pay for perceived injustices. There will be other groups that will be more reluctant to take from one group and give to others.

They will want individuals to take more responsibility for their decisions and their plight and will be more reluctant to bail people out for their poor life choices. They also will likely see the flip side of those who push new agendas.

The aim is for us to not only be divided, but stringently and ardently divided to the point of irreconcilable differences.
Whoa.
If that's what and where it's headed, isn't it time we drop the red v. blue and do what is right?
Not the not-left right and not the left; just right, just true.
Screw those guys: they're gleefully and gainfully urging us along, so just forget them and the arguments they're aching to get us into.
They're going to do whatever the want anyway.

Originally posted by @mchillAmerica will be the most powerful country as long as China isn't a democracy. America's power comes from its massive economy and cultural influence. With how closed Chinese society is, they have no cultural influence over the rest of the world. Even if their economy is larger than America's they still won't match its influence.

Politicians rely on the party divide in order to divide and conquer. That way neither party claims accountability for anything, rather, they just blame the other party for everything and call it a day as their loyal partisan shills go along with it.
So if the system is not broke, why fix it?
Granted, as hard as it may seem now, the system will be much more corrupt than it is now and the country will be much less free than it is now. This is due to the inability of the checks and balances to snuff out the wide spread corruption we see today.
