@ponderable saidThat's a good point. In a country where there are more guns than people (which is crazy since we're the third most populated country in the world) with one of the highest gun murders and mass shooting rates on earth, I can see why American cops would be on edge.
In fact this sounds like a generalization.
Of course German cops are much more relaxed, since guns are not so widely dsitrubetd in germany. And we have less murder, less detah by police and less stress to the police.
To be fair we don't know what that cop experienced previously to make him go off like that. This happened in Florida, a right-wing pro-gun state. Was he shot at before? Did he witness a fellow officer get shot?
Don't me wrong, in no way does it excuse this act of dazzling stupidity. But it is something to think about.

It's something we are forced to think about here in the USA almost daily. I've come to my conclusions.
We just had two police officers killed yesterday in my home state along with a paramedic. Extremely sad to say the least. However, they showed the police giving a police conference and they were all crying like little girls. All I can think about is, now they know how it feels to lose a loved one over some senseless BS.
@jj-adams saidJust to clarify for the illiberal dummies the point is how in hells name did this idiot got a badge and a state sanctioned weapon
It was a horrible mistake, no doubt, and the cop resigned before being fired. Will probably face some sort of charges.
So in your way of thinking that one instance makes all American cops stupid?
Obviously not all US cops are stupid but enough of them are to warrant a review of the recruitment process and possibly a wage rise

@kevcvs57 saidI feel the problem is more in their training. Today, they are trained to shoot first and ask questions later; literally. They are trained that the only lives that really matter are theirs and their fellow officers. They are TRAINED to violate our constitutional rights. Citizens with constitutional rights are their enemy. However, the police here in the USA have be given free reign to stomp all over our constitutional rights, so in actuality we have no rights.

not true...if you are ignorant of world affairs you should remain silent!
"Gun violence in Latin America is exceptionally high, due in no small part to the prevalence of criminal gangs and a vibrant drug trafficking industry. The Inter-American Development Bank released a report highlighting several critical factors in Latin American cities that contribute to increased gun violence, including economic deprivation, residential instability, family disruption, absence from school, the population’s age structure, and alcohol consumption.
Gangs are much less of an issue in the United States, yet it is second only to Brazil on the list in total gun deaths. Many people understandably assume the high number of gun deaths in the U.S. is due to mass shootings, which receive frequent attention from the media. In truth, mass shootings account for only a small percentage of gun deaths in the United States. Rather, nearly two-thirds (63😵 of gun deaths in the US in 2019 were suicides."

sadistic thinking
More like; you will reap what you sow; like Jesus said will happen.
As I said; it is extremally sad to say the least. Just like all the unarmed people murdered by police.
'sadistic thinking'? HA! that's what this is fool.
And the f-er did not even lose his job. He left town because real American citizens went looking for him so the worthless punk went into hiding. Go figure...
@mott-the-hoople saidYou quoted me saying "one of".
backpedaling looks good on you
Christ, you're retarded.

@vivify saidNo, not stupid, just under-trained and over-armed, compared to police in most other civilized countries.

Video shows Florida deputy repeatedly shoot at man after thinking falling acorn was gunfire

The cop shot at a handcuffed man in a patrol car who they had already searched and found to be unarmed...because he thought a single falling acorn was gunfire.
Thank God the suspect wasn't killed.
