@vivify saidIf she answered either way nearly half of the population would be mad at her. If you were her would you give a clear answer one way or the other?
Barrett continues to dodge questions. She won't even answer if she thinks a SCOTUS ruling upholding birth control is Constitutional.
She also won't answer questions about Obamacare, or whether she knew Trump wants a judge who will repeal it. Miss "I can't recall" has a conveniently bad memory.

@no1marauder saidMy Bad. I didn't bother to look it up - I felt certain the question was so damning it could only come from an enemy
Sen. Kennedy (R-LA)?https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Kennedy_(Louisiana_politician)
John Kennedy, you suck
@metal-brain saidYes. Why the hell would anyone oppose birth control? What reason would I have to oppose Obamacare?

@metal-brain saidI meant as a judge. What legal reason would she have to oppose Obamacare or birth control?
Obamacare has an individual mandate. I have reason to oppose that. You should oppose the individual mandate since it is a republican idea.
What did she say when asked?

@vivify saidObamacare has an individual mandate. I have reason to oppose that. You should oppose the individual mandate too since it is a republican idea. Do you always embrace republican ideas?

Remember the single payer option? Wasn't that the democrats idea? Obama didn't give you that. He gave us the republican plan.
Why do you have the urge to defend the individual mandate? It is because you were duped into thinking it was a democrat idea?

It was killed in the Senate. Every single Republican opposed it, including a handful of Dems, one of which (Lieberman) was being paid by insurance companies. He has since left the Democratic party as an outcast and is now an independent.

a) It wasn't a "Republican" idea, it was Mitt Romney's. A single Republican's proposal doesn't make it a "Republican idea".
b) I don't care which party comes up with an idea; if it helps the country, I'm for it. Years ago I supported Ron Paul on this forum and would have voted for him over Obama
c) The individual mandate is needed to fund Obamacare. Without, Obamacare doesn't exist. That's why Trump wants it gone. I don't want people to lose insurance, which is why I supported. Obama wanted the Public Option; politics and greed prevented that, leaving the Individual mandate.

@vivify saidYou and MB don't seem to be aware that the individual mandate is gone:

" The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the mandate was constitutional in 2012, but in December 2017, Congress passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which eliminated the individual mandate penalty, effective January 1, 2019."

@averagejoe1 saidI would have said Griswold was correctly decided and is binding precedent.
I'm hoping Marauder will tell us what he would have answered, and how he arrives at the answer.
She probably had to duck the ACA question since it is coming before the SCOTUS. She might have tried to explain her prior criticism of Roberts' majority decision in National Federation of Independent Business v. Sebelius in particular exactly how the Chief Justice went beyond any plausible reading of the statute, but she rather dishonestly ducked that too.

@vivify saidIt was not Romney's idea. It was the Heritage Foundation. You are wildly misinformed.

@no1marauder saidI am aware that Trump signed an executive order saying it would not be enforced, yet every year I do my taxes my tax preparer determines whether or not I will be taxed for not being insured for that year.

@metal-brain saidAgain, I don't care who comes up with an idea as long as it helps America. Why you think I'd have a problem with a proposal just because Republicans support it is beyond me.
