@Metal-Brain saidHave you read at least one of the books the Nazi's burned?
Government is not supposed to wage war against free speech.
That is akin to Nazi book burning.

@Metal-Brain saidI don't agree with the potential TikTok ban, but it passed the House 360-58 and Senate 79-18. Those are veto proof majorities, so why blame it on President Biden?
@shavixmir
"Banning TikTok is so obviously unconstitutional, in fact, that even the Act's sponsors recognized that reality, and therefore have tried mightily to depict the law not as a ban at all, but merely a regulation of TikTok's ownership," according to the filing.

They will not admit it is a ban kind of like not admitting wars are wars.

Everybody calls it a ban which is unconstitutional. That is why the sponsors will not call it a ban. Because they are trying to get tik tok to sell to an American company under the threat of a ban.
Tik Tok is not even available in China. Rand Paul claimed China banned Tik Tok. Tik Tok created a different version for China that does not upset the Chinese government. Tik Tok also offered to put their data on the oracle cloud so the American government can see all of the data with transparency.
The lies about Tik Tok are absolutely absurd.

I don't agree that the Chinese government has any "right" to operate businesses in the United States, so I don't see how this regulation of commerce by Congress is unconstitutional and doubt courts will find it so.
Not every bad policy is "unconstitutional".

@no1marauder saidThe Chinese government doesn't own Tik Tok. That is another lie you accepted without proper scrutiny. Rand Paul proved most of the shareholders are not even from China. Do your research before repeating disinformation our corrupt politicians gave you.

Yeah. Sure. Whatever.

If anyone on this, wayo-ma’s arse fvcked by a cancerous kangaroo, site is all for free speech, it is I.
You say banning tictoc means you are against free speech. How? How do you draw that conclusion?
Can you not write on this forum? On Instagram, on Reddit? Scream on the streets?
When did tictoc become the gateway, make or break, application upon which the very freedom of speech hangs in the balance?
Don’t be stupid.
And don’t compare the US to China.
And, if you want to, start with laws passed under George Bush jr. (the patriot act). He gave the CIA and NSA the power to listen to anything and anybody everywhere.
That’s what you should be worried about, not some child’s application for sharing BS.

Anyway, Congress is empowered to regulate commerce and if it wants to pass a bad law doing so it can.

What is wrong with Tik Tok? You have to have a credible reason to ban it. generous pro Palestinian posts are not a good reason unless you are a hardcore Zionist that supports ethnic cleansing.
I concluded they want to control Tik Tok and they want to ban it if they cannot control it. Do you have another explanation?
@no1marauder saidTik Tok's parent corporation is from China, but most of the shareholders are NOT Chinese according to Rand Paul. See his government website. He explains a lot.
It's owned by a company based in Beijing, isn't it?
Tik Tok's parent corporation created a different version of Tik Tok that is more China friendly for China. Tik Tok itself is not favorable to China which is why it is not available there. So to suggest the Chinese government controls it is rather silly as Rand Paul explained.
Many of our politicians lied to us about Tik Tok. They lied a lot!
