Personally I believe Blair's donation (circa £5 million) is a genuinely charitable gesture and the "Blood Money" gibes are out of order.
What do you think?

I reckon Blair is too self-consciously righteous a character to feel guilt. He may well feel regret or frustration about his legacy, thought.
Personally i like to think that late at night after a hard day on the lecture circuit, when Cherie and the kids have gone to bed, as he sits down with a glass of nice fruity Rioja or something similar, moments of guilt flash through his mind.
But i guess we'll never know.

My thought is that Blair was expecting poor sales for his dismal self promoting pamphlet. Everyone knows political memoirs are consistently rubbish. He was bound to be compared unfavourably with other political self promoters (Obama could probably live on the proceeds of his books quite nicely - I must get one second hand when I have nothing left to learn about chess). By donating sale proceeds to charity, he has secured a significant boost in demand and partly confused the critics. He can make back what he loses in his talk fees alone. What he needs - and will get here - is another injection of PR and to keep his ugly mug in the news. That's worth millions to him and sustains his profitable, smug and jaded image.
