If you like the only difference between the USA and the RSA (Republic of South Africa), is Reagan and Bush had a first class economy to run down. But if American's dont wake up and allow 4 more years of the same MacPain, then I would not be surprised if the US economy starts resembling that of a developing third world nation. Given enough debt any nation can ...[text shortened]... training college now and get your welcome mat ready in anticipation of your dollar collapsing.

The simple version is that Mbeki's efforts to manipulate the judicial process around the corruption charges facing Jacob Zuma, pegged to succeed Mbeki, were exposed, and Mbeki was asked to step down.

Is Mandela supporting Zuma?
We have a new president now anyway -- Kgalema Motlanthe. Sure, it's an interim thing, but if he does a good job for the next seven months or so (run-up to the presidential election), it'll be hard for the ANC to tell him to get lost!
And in other news Mbeki stalwarts are forming a new party, it seems. So we might finally be getting an opposition worthy of the name.
I like to think it's good news disguised as a turd, much like the Wall Street meltdown may turn out.

Originally posted by Bosse de NageI mean the whole part about centralisation, from the use of "levers of power" to the "deployment of political heads".
Are you referring to his grudging admiration for the Broederbond?
There are too many mentions about how to expand the tentacles of the party and too little about what the tentacles will actually do.
But this article is all I ever read about this guy... What's your view on him?

I don't know much about him, but I do respect him for telling ANC Youth League Julius "Kill for Zuma" Malema, the biggest, stupidest poes in the world, to shut up.
Originally posted by CrowleyEveryone I know irrespective of background considers him a dunce. Which begs the question how he got so powerful.
The ANCYL is a joke with their recent procession of clown presidents preaching violence.
I'm sure the actual youth of today can see through their militaristic BS...
