The response of the conservative base has been somewhat revealing in this regard.
- equating liberalism with socialism, Communism.
- voter suppression in it's various forms. Trying to squeeze every last drop of voter turnout amongst Trump support, as evidenced by Trump's desperation rally tour in the last week of his campaign. While using every tactic available to suppress the democratic vote.
- trying to label new voting mechanisms, mail in ballots for one, as corrupt. Yes, mail in balloting did raise red flags for the conservative base, but not for the reasons they want you to believe. Not because they were prone to fraud, but because mail in ballots rendered GOP voter suppression tactics useless.
The trend is that liberal thought will increase while conservatism will gradually continue it's decline.
This conflict is about embracing the future vs clinging to the past (the good old days).

Better yet, create a standard, usable across the country, for the format of the voter ID card, limiting them to voting at their assigned polling place, in their own county, in their own school district, or by mail, which is also regulated because every registered voter gets one ballot, configured for their own precinct. When registering for vote-by-mail, require a voter ID number, which is on your voter ID card.
But you won't like this because it doesn't suppress the black vote, the latinx vote, the poor vote. Without suppression, Republicans cannot win.
