Indeed, forcing companies to have better environmental policies can have very beneficial effects. When McDonalds got hit with films like "Fast Food Nation" and "Supersize me!" they suddenly started sponsoring sport! Having a healthy, clean environment, with drinkable water and breathable air; having a lack of extreme climate variation and the droughts ...[text shortened]... oyment of life. Perhaps SlimJim enjoys watching African children starve to death though....

I think that when children starve in Africa it is due more to bad governance than fertilizer or drought. Also, maybe you can answer this, but does the Dark Continent still have an embargo on American genetically-modified corn, bananas and other foodstuffs?

I also support the embargo on American genetically-modified corn. Africa is not and has never been short of basic food stuff producing capacity. Importing food from the US would therefore be bad for the economy. (The US has farm subsidies for exactly the same reason).
Although hardier crops requireing less fertilizer and pesticides would help some people and reduce polution, they will not solve most of the cases of hunger in africa, which are due to a combination of mismanagement, politics and war. Although foreign aid has been beneficial in some cases and has fed starving people in some cases it has also damaged economies and caused starvation in others.

Yeah ,that climate change must be happening ,cause today was 22 degrees and the wind blowing NE,and yesterday the temperature was 29 degrees and the wind blowing WNW.
Changes everyday so all the doomsdayers and greenies must be right.

NO!!!! I lecture this to first years!!!
Weather is the stochastic day-to-day fluctuations in environmental conditions.
Climate is the long term patterns (warmer in summer than winter, for example); an overall description, if you will.
how else can you put that in words?
