Well I've lived in both countries for a long time.
Canada is more spread out and we only have one "mega-city" and that is where covid hit the hardest.
The USA has many mega-cities and Americans live closer to each other. They have high rise apartment buildings all over the place. They also have an older system and that means the old houses are closer together.
Canada is relatively newer so their is more space between neighbors.
Also, from what I've seen... Americans are more about family and closeness than Canadians.
And the USA has way more old people than Canada.
The USA also has way more international travellers because of business.
These are just off the top of my head...just ideas.

I pulled up numbers as of July 27th.
Canada vaccinated once - 82%
Canada vaccinated twice - 74%
US vaccinated once - 62%
US vaccinated twice - 52%
Maybe that should be taken into consideration.
