Well maybe there is more to the story than in the news. For instance, just how far out of town is the community? Can this dude prove he or others actively tried to sign people up? Could it be the people actually tried to get hooked up but were denied? Why do you believe just that one dude who was an angel?
They still long for the 'good ol days' of segregation and whites only town /schools/ buses etc..etc...

By implication you mean the rich people should pay for these things, not by choice, but because they're threatened by the police, enforcing the law that they likely did not vote for. Unless you meant a different tax system?

Here's how you work out if you pay taxes: Add up all the services you receive from gummint, put a value on them, then tally up how much tax you've paid subtract the first total from the second. If it's a + then you actually do pay taxes, but for many thousands that number is a - , which makes them all parasites.
If you work (?) for the gummint as a bureaurat, busybody, social worker, lifetime student, dole-ey, beneficiary, then you don't even need to do the equation.

If everybody chips in, then everyone can be taken care of; when the need arises.
I, for one, don't want to be hassled with S^^t.
Health, public transport, immense amounts of beer, good quality roads, education, post... I don't want to be bothered: ARRANGE IT.
These are things people need. Like housing. Just bloody well arrange it and I can use my energy doing something creative (well, I would if I wasn't drunk...)
