Originally posted by ivangriceI guess it'd have to be my amazingly large... left arm? I dunno - would be nice though - I just fancy it. There was some guy did it years ago. Every species has to have a 'type specimen' from which all others can be defined. There wasn;t one for Homo sapiens at the time so he asked to be made into the specimen. I think he was turned down, but i can't remember who it was...
What is it about your body that would deserve to be a display specimen? And what sort of museum would display it?
It seems that there is a problem with either cremation or burial.
Cremation releases toxic pollution into the atmosphere from the mercury in dental fillings and other metals in artificial hips etc.
Burial eventually leaches embalming fluids into the soil. What is more, in the UK there is estimated to be only around 15 years worth of burial space remaining without allocating more precious land for the purpose.
But worry ye not eco warriors! An alternative method of disposal has been developed for the environmentally concious :

Personally I like the idea of a 'Space Burial' for myself :

Having long wondered what it must be like to go into Earth orbit, this is probably the only chance I will get. I like the idea of re-entering Earth's atmosphere, years after my death, as a shooting star. Perhaps someone will make a wish on me! 😲

Sky burial.
