We have no doubt he committed the crime. In Norway they treat prisoners with respect and the prisoners respond by getting out and NOT repeating their crimes.
But of course YOU would go Strap em to a cot for ten years that'l teach em.
long ago, given up on the idea of
rehabilitation. The United States simply
warehouses prisoners. The problem is made
worse by privatization and powerful labor unions
that equate empty jailhouse bunks with lost revenue.
@jimm619 said100 percent true.

The feds used to go after the big guys who committed federal crimes.
Then when they saw empty bunks they started arresting average Joe criminals to fill the facilities.
Private facilities need full prisons to make profits and even state facilities need full prisons to get the most government funding.
Rehabilitation ended long ago.
The tax payer is paying for the prisons to make money.

The correctional officers unions are strong,
lotsa' contractors, too. prisons are VERY expensive
to build.........This all started under Reagan's
mandatory minimums and 3 strikes.
@jimm619 saidThat is bloody attrocious.
What do you think?

80 years imprisonment for robbery is already pathetic and worth reviewing what the hell’s going on.
But continous solitary confinement or even short use (more than 2 days) generally falls under article 5 of the UN charter on human rights (although it is non-binding, it is defacto the source upon which nations are judged).
What sort of person would torture someone like that? And why the hell do they have the authority to do so?
And what sort of civilization can find it acceptable?
I think the US, and Texas in particular, should take a long look in the mirror and ask themselves if this is how they really want to be and be seen as.

@jimm619 saidIt would seem that American self righteous inflexibility to demand an eye for an eye rather than see crime as a symptom of systematic inequality is trending towards the dystopia they prophecy will be the lot of those who don't implement their style of democracy and neo-con virtue. But the fruits of that philosophy are plain to see in their prison planet reality. Is there time for them to still turn it around or has greed and self interest created an inertia, a heart of stone if you will, that soullessly dehumanises all who are unlucky to not have been born with a silver spoon in their mouths. It seems only time will tell.
I understand all that.
Solitary confinement is
enhanced punishment
that many argue, only
creates A MORE VICIOUS CRIMINAL
that, WILL BE RELEASED,
sooner or later, into society.
Criminals should be punished but,
by using these methods are we really
making society safer, or just creating
a more dangerous situation, in the long run?

@shavixmir saidthe OP link had this…
I only read the information in the link provided in the OP.
“ Hope was sentenced to 80 years in 1990 for a series of armed robberies and landed in solitary after he escaped from prison in 1994. He eluded capture for about two months, during which he stole a car at knife point from an 83-year-old man and robbed four grocery stores.”
@sonhouse said“ I didn't see the report.”
@Mott-The-Hoople
Even kidnappers get less sentences. Did he kill? I didn't see the report.
well shut up then

Harris was a DA, they lock guys up......It's their job.
Your link explains that Biden had campaigned on prison(er) reform.
What is your point here?
