my spouse has worked in the mortgage policy business as a government relations and regulatory expert for 35 years.
she spent most of this time working for the mortgage bankers assn., freddie mac, a few private investment banks, then America's Community Bankers Assn., then American Bankers Assn.
She has for the last 18 months been writing speeches and ...[text shortened]... ht to know just a little about that which they post before making an utter ass of themselves
Exactly. There is no way the crisis developed in a short period of just ten months, or that it was somehow the democrats' fault.

one has naught to do with the other -- explain how a financial disaster more than 8 years in the making has anything to do with a short-term change in the majorities in the congress?
it shows how little you know of current events, of economics, of politics, why, of just about everything
tell me, explain why its merely a coincidence that all this globa ...[text shortened]... nonsense started just about the time the last manned moon mission took place?
how about that?

I was making a completely false comparison, ascribing one thing to another that simply stated only a nitwit would consider in the least related proximately to cause and effect.
Which is to say, I compared the nitwit OP with this nitwit lunar, or looney, comparison.
I've actually heard a person make this nonsensical comparison, also alleging that the astronauts having left footprints on the moon "caused" tidal disruptions and inland flooding on Earth.
You were supposed to scratch your head

well, that is wrong.
And even if that had been true, there's no way it could have been the democrats' fault.
I would not be surprised if a broad cross-section of the US population today had significantly shifted their attitude toward the amount of mortage debt and consumer debt they felt it was acceptable to carry.
It has been a long standing popular idea that what now must be recognized as an excessive individual family debt load used to be considered quite ok.
One can tell that just from the number of 6500 sq ft homes standing empty and for sale in my neighborhood.

for those who can't be bothered to click on the graph, the Dow Jones peaked around Oct. 2007, 10 months after the Democrats took power, and has been tumbling ever since.
But thanks for trying to step into dsr's shoes. They are big shoes...

Originally posted by zeeblebotThere is some truth in blaming the Democrats, however, the blame should be shared equally with the Republicans for turning a blind eye to the developing crisis. A few people tried to blow the whistle, but were ignored. Unfortunately for the Republicans, there was a Republican in the White House when it all went down so naturally it was his fault. LOL. That's just how stupid the average voter is I'm afraid and if you looked at the numbers before the crisis, McCain was in the lead. It really took the crisis and a perfect storm for Obama to get elected.

Now if you want to have a bit of fun, look on Youtube for an exchange between Barney Frank and Bill Orielly. It is part of what I am talking about. After all, it was he who was overseeing Fanny Mae and company.
