I keep hearing idiots say we shouldn't have a progressive income tax because it's bad to tax our "most productive" citizens at a higher marginal rate than the average worker. Bristol Palin just made enough to be in the top 2% of incomes in the US; is she now "more productive" than the average janitor?
She was producing ratings and advertising revenue for the TV show. That's why the TV show is in business. To make money. She was worth whatever they were paying her, and then some.

And as far as her maybe being qualified to work at Burger King...Obama's not even qualified to do THAT.

Besides, she'll pay plenty in taxes...much more than Washington deserves to get...speaking of people who produce nothing

What a joke. She's a dancing monkey (and a poor one at that) of no interest to anybody but for her last name. If she was taxed 100% of her ill-gotten gains, she'd have no legitimate moral complaint. Her parents should have raised her better than to accept whore money (except whores do something of at least marginal societal worth).

And of course, we have you to decide on what somethings marginal worth to "society" is. That's good to know.

Her first name is amusing if you consider the rhyming slang meaning (probably outdated now but what the heck) of 'bristols'.

I think producing entertainment is a worthwhile economic activity. Perhaps it is more worrying that people find it entertaining to see this nobody "dance".

This writer substantiates his concern:

Isn't it disgusting? I mean, someone who SHOULD be working at Burger King making all that money? I say back to work you Burger King slave!! 😠

NOW you're concerned with qualifications? When did that start?
The funny part is, is that alot of our political leaders are similar. I mean, if it were not for Reagan picking Bush as BP, not only would he have not become president, neither would his son have been. Then you have Hillary make a run at the presidentcy but only because her husband made that possible. I could go on, like naming every Kennedy who ever became elected, but I think you get the idea.

Yes you are right. If things were different in the past then they would be different now.

One should make money based on their efforts, abilities and productive value to society, not on their parent's names.

I never said Bristol was actually qualified to work at Burger King; as far as I know, she's never actually had a job so she might not be able to perform the necessary duties (and she wouldn't be able to get a bunch of right wingers to vote and keep her on a real job if she was performing poorly). And I have nothing against people who work at Burger King; it's honest work and nothing to be ashamed of. The people there are earning their money, not having $250,000 handed to them because of their parent's name.

Very true. Hillary (coincidentally, I'm sure hee hee) was hired by the Rose Law firm right about the same time that Bill beceme Atty General in Arkansas. And, Hillary just worked SO HARD there that just when Bill became Governor, she (coincidentally, I'm sure) was made a full partner.

Michelle Obama, same thing...when Barack became a Senator, she magically was hired for a no-show hospital job making $300K a year.

Unlike Bristol Palin on DWTS, both were clearly qualified. The claim about Michele Obama's job being a "no show" one is a lie that has been debunked in this forum before. That never stops people like the Bloop however for repeating patent falsehoods. The actual facts are here: http://www.factcheck.org/2009/05/michelle-obamas-salary/

Bottom line: Michele Obama, a professional with an advanced degree, made about as much per year working in an administrative position at a hospital as Bristol Palin got paid for a few hours of lousy dancing.

Yeah, and Michelle's hospital main practice was patient dumping

http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/03/michelle_obamas_patientdumping_1.html

btw, GW Bush also has an advanced degree.

And lol, Michelle just happened to get "promoted" just as Obama took office as a United States Senator. How about that, what a hard worker she must be!!!

I rest my case.
