I don't believe this for a second. Perhaps if we are talking about devoted born again xtians then I might conceed, but that's a tiny percentage of people. Also I don't think being an atheist makes you any more likely to commit crime than being a xtian.

well the slight fact that if you follow the law set down in the new testament then you should certainly not be mugging people. and if you don't at least try to follow that law, well-are you a christian?

True, but I doubt a great deal of those claiming to be xtian actually adhere to all the commandments all the time. As I've mentioned before in other threads, I believe that in a lot of cases the sense of absolution following confession may cause a number of people to sin more often (just a possiblity). As an atheist, I have no such thing to fall back on and so must bare the full ramifications of my decisions. So far I have not mugged anyone 🙂

people may use it as an excuse, but that's all it is-an excuse. the bible tells us that being forgiven is no reason to break the law willy nilly. we've got to try and withhold it. there is, i think, a subtle difference between those who meerly beleive, and true "christians".

What fact ?
When I was a child, my best friend was the son of a minister and I came first at scripture at school. I also have 2 sisters that are dedicated Christians.
A good leader sustains peoples attention with the characteristics listed.

Go to Nepal or Sikkim where you will find people much more genuinely nice. Laughing is a common feature of everyday life, not the glazed self-satisfied and smug smile of a 'happy christian'. This a mixture of culture and religion untainted by the protestant work ethic. This means people have more time for eachother. Although of course they still have their problems. I find Christianity goes well with Americans....its all gloss on top but if you scratch beneath the surface there isn't much depth of thought.

So if your best friend was the son of a minister and you came first at scripture at school it means that you know a lot about God? If you have 2 sisters that are dedicated Christians does this mean you know anything about God? Well, you may know a bit about God. But if you don't know Him personally then maybe your ratings are based on some presuppositions or illusions based on the little knowledge you have "about" him.

I'd be happy to get to know God personally if he would visit and communicate in a form that he designed us to deal with. Until then, I regard God as a poor or possibly non-existent leader.

LOL. No doubt. I don't recall telepathy ever being mentioned in the Bible.

The last appearance of a good leader woudn't have been 2,000 years ago. Again, I'd be happy to get to know God personally if he would visit and communicate in a form that he designed us to deal with.

Stan,

Arrogance is one of the seven deadly sins.

To expect a God to visit you will require that you build at least ONE world.

He builds trillions of them.

So be humble. Be satisfied with visits from us poor humans. We care enough to include you as our brother.

Hell, I even think it would be fun to come and have you show me around Australia. That would be cool.

Keep the faith bro.

Mike
