Sure, they had revolutions in the former USSR and Cuba as well based upon these premises as well.

Power to the people!!!.....er.....um.....statists!!!

All these people yelling revolution when the real revolution occured thousands of years ago on a cross in Jerusalem. Every subsequent revolution is merely the realization that the nature of men is sinful ...[text shortened]... ogether sooo intimately? Are we all "too big to fail" when failure is mankinds eventual fate?
Interesting quote from news article about the death of Quadaffi...

Everyone rules, it declared, calling representative democracy a form of tyranny, and Libyans were organized into "people's committees" that went all the way up to a "People's Congress," a sort of parliament.

In the end, rule by all meant rule by none except Qaddafi, who elevated himself to colonel and declared himself "Brother Leader."

"He aspired to create an ideal state," said North African analyst Saad Djebbar of Cambridge University. "He ended up without any components of a normal state. The 'people's power' was the most useless system in the world."

I tend to think the OWS crowd may contain some "useful idiots" who, if they get what they want, will bring about another "Brother Leader".

That seems to be a regular sequence in history. Unfettered Democracy, leads to anarchy, leads to a strongman dictator, leads to revolution, and the circle begins anew.

I think the norm for the totalitarian movements of the 20th century have been that the "would be dictators" rise to power always on the purported principle of giving power to the masses. While it is often a bumpy road as the dictator rises to power, it's not as if the anarchy arose spontaneously without the help of the wannabe dictators.

The OWS crowd are nothing but tools of our "dictators in waiting".

That sad thing is, it's like a train wreck. You can see it coming a good while in advance, but all you can do is watch it happen.

The saddest part is many people believe the new scapegoating is progress and overdue.

But revolutions only happen when:
1. There is something seriously wrong that need revolting against.
2. The losses encountered by revolting seem worth it considering the possible gains.

I very much doubt that first world citizens are ready to give up their comfy life style for a full scale revolt against a system that most of them are actually fairly happy with.
Rather than focusing only on revolutions, you might consider these OWS folks speak for many American's that feel there voice, and standard of living is being eroded because of the power and influence of wall street.

You might also consider that first world citizens "comfy life" is not as comfy as it once was. I didn't say a revolution was just around the corner. All I said was it would be unwise to dismiss the OWS crowd as a bunch of goofballs. There message is not as disjointed as many would like to think, and there numbers and influence are growing...

"How is the fault of a teacher, fireman, or anyone else middle class that some people did not get anything out of their free public education? For that matter how is the fault of the Wall Street broker?"

That education is not free. Everyone contributes to it with their taxes.
