I have an Aunt who's been smoking a pack of cigarettes a day for the last 40 years. She doesn't have lung cancer so i guess that proves cigarettes don't cause cancer. Wuhoo!

My mum once had a history essay titled "The Roman empire was built on feet of clay. Discuss". Unless the USA gets used to using an alternate energy source it'll have a massive energy crisis in the not too distant future.

Yep, it's a term used by those suffering from intellectual failure.

Oh, it's a post from wedgie....say no more.

The oil is the real problem... as well:

didn't you know market failure is an accepted part of economics- which is why nearly all countries in the world have mixed economies?

you probably fail to see the irony in you saying that other people suffer from intellectual failure, but maybe one day you'll learn...

we all live in hope...

I do not understand why there is such a debate about global warming. I can understand there being a debate as to how much humanity is contribuiting to the enviormental conditions of the atmosphere but I don't understand why there are people who think we are not doing any harm at all.

Don't we need this planet or is there another one I don't know abot that we can move to? Where do I buy a ticket for that flight? Can I get a window seat or do I need to be frozen like in the Alien movies?

On second thought I don't want a trip on that flight if it means having to live with all the people who denied we ever did Earth any harm at all.

Ok, let's get a little clarification from the black knight. It's obvious to he and his imaginary French scientist that man is not contributing to global warming, but do they think pollution is good? Is it wrong to try and clean up the mess that we have been making for the last 1000 years? Or should we just let some other generation worry about that stuff?

Well suppose you extrapolate what happens if there is a serious global warming: In spite of the extra heat, it can still lead to an ice age, paradoxical as that sounds. Even if it doesn't, our human world revolves around farming, whether on a one hectare plot in africa or a million hectares in Brazil, if we can't farm because the rains stop in a large portion of the world, we are screwed, if you can't eat you can't produce. No production, no civilization, it's pretty simple. The world becomes close to Neolithic again. War lords, feudal societies, 1100 AD hear we come.

1100? In some places that'll be like the space age.
I wonder how quickly the planet as a whole will recover, especially with its top species knocked down a peg, being forced to live sustainably.
