This is a myth. As everyone knows, there is more land, mountains and heavy things like Michael Moore in the Northern Hemisphere. Hence it weighs more than the Southern Hemisphere which is mainly ocean.

Because it is heavy, the Northern Hemisphere is at the bottom of the globe. You are the ones who are upside down, but years of Northern propaganda cartography has blinded you to this simple fact.

I thought you guys had a globe that shows the southern hemisphere on the top?

Sort of like your toilets going 'the Wrong way'.

Cartography shows an accepted way of thinking about the world but it needs to be challenged occasionly.

First, an 'upside-down' map looks wrong - but it is just as valid to put South on top. Also accepted is not putting the equator in the midlde and not showing part of the Southern Hemisphere at all - most people don't even notice the North is shown to be bigger in relation to the globe than it is. Also distorted is the size of land masses - the more distant from the Equator, the more stretched and more important a country looks. People also relate travel to a flat page - not seeing the quckest path is a curve. not a line and can go over the poles and off the map.

I think we need a new map - from multiple perspectives, and correctly adjusting size.

As for toilets going the wrong way - I can assure you my toilet flushes down.

Maps are very deceptive... I used to wonder why Greenland and Canada didn't kick US butt being so big...

That is why I only trust the globe now.

I will also add, I thank every day that the toilet flushes down, I hate when it comes up!

I love the episode of the Simpsons where the US Embassy in Australia has installed some kind of 'toilet turbine' to make it flush "the proper clock-wise direction".

I know that Huricains and Typhoons spin the oposite direction... Tornados also??? I guess so....

Yes, this would all change if the poles flip, I would guess!

Is this to say that when and if the poles should shift or the polar currents should change direction, it would lead to a global super storm as in the day after tomorrow. ushering in the next global ice age. what do you know about the way the change in temperature in the polar caps affects total climate. Is there some kind of way to prevent a super storm of this nature or prevent polar revers or perhaps even reverse it after it happens.

Hmmm, I envision that the north pole will spin down, and the south pole will come up... but Magnetic north stays where it is?

Or does the core flip, and the surface stays put?

Either way, Humans can't stop it... I am sure! Time to get out in space and build, let Earth heal up all she likes.

I guess what i dont understand is how can global warming essentially melting the polar ice caps trigger the next global super storm thus ushering in the next ice age???Saw day after tomorrow and read Art Bells book but still dont understand this...anyone with some ideas.
