I think countries not in the U.N. can do whatever they want.
Not true. The UN will enforce some laws when an offending non-member nation commits a major violation
@no1marauder saidI read them. The Al-Jazeera version is very emotional and can easily incite aggression and hatred toward Israel. The wording tells you which side they are supporting and although they present the facts they insert their biased opinion into it. The NR version appears to give the legal position of some of these properties without inciting any emotion or feeling about the evictions. I would personally place more trust in the unemotional article.
If you want the Palestinian side, there's this: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/5/1/what-is-happening-in-occupied-east-jerusalems-sheikh-jarrah
If you want the Israeli side, try this: https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/05/the-truth-about-the-sheikh-jarrah-eviction/
The bottom line is Israel's annexation of East Jerusalem is not legal under international law and ...[text shortened]... the prior Jewish owners want to evict the Palestinians who are living on the land.
Clear as mud.
Clearly both sides need an intermediary to help them do what is right and fair. Plus the passion with which I have seen some people in high positions condemn the Jews for evicting Palestinians is uncalled for and irresponsible. There are legal reasons why this is happening. I have seen some politicians [Irish, British, and American] making comments on this issue and they are far too emotionally charged to make sense.
