Actually I sort of recognise the original post as quite accurate. however apart from the currency, fat, language bit I think it can be applied to nearly every nation.
As for the dig at degrees that are not mathematics and science, that is an appalling lack of cultural awareness to assume that life is just about these subjects. It would be a dull world if it was full of mathematicians, I am just trying to imagine the annual maths assoc conference lasting 365 days a year...
