Humourless I'm inclined to agree with. But as for art:
Ingmar Bergman, Max Von Sydow (before he became a hollywood actor), Lena Ollin, Anders Zorn, Lasse Hallström and a whole host of artists, painters, writers that only work in swedish.
See? There's humour in that list. 😛

This is hilarious for more than one reason. 😉
Name a few famous Russian comedians from the Stalin period ... and please ..... add a few from the Peoples Republic of China during the Cultural Revolution (besides Mao's wife and the other members of the Gang of Four of course).
None of the countries you mentioned have, in fact, been socialist states. I would have thought you would have known that these were the communist enemy.
Many European countries, however, have a long history of Socialist governments.
You are chancre, simple put, a chauvinist pig.
You seem to be way too proud of being American.
You have demonstrated no respect at all for other ppl sentiments/convictions. Your poor dialectic is a bunch of crap.
And you continue to spread your sh!t all over the world.
Go ahead. It is too easy to post crap when you are sitting in front of your pc scratching your balls and spamming attacks here and there, because you are THE American.
I never think of you as the typical American. But you are putting them to blame, have you think about that?
I'm sure you didn't, because your ego and patrioterism makes you a mental invalid.

That's about as silly as Israelis thinking they can bomb Palestinians into submission.

BTW, where is the insult?
Callimg him a chauvinist pig? He is, out of doubt.
But, after all. who are you to defend him? His attorney/lawyer?
I don't want to enter a debate with you. I want to read his answer (if any) to my post.
The Israelis trying to take vengeance for a kidnapped soldier is a ridiculuos, bloody thing. But what is happening just now in Ghaza is matter for another thread.
Originally posted by ivanhoeIn some countries the Socialist party is called the Social Democrats. In the UK they are called the Labour party. Other Socialist parties have other names. You can't just take "socialist" from the name of a party and assume it is though, after all the Nazi's were the National Socialists and were generally regarded as being a bit right wing.
You're talking about social-democrats, aren't you ?
I was, however talking about a little less left wing than the extremes you mentioned. I would contend that even a communist state does not, in itself, have a negative affect on art or literature but that the dictators who seem to lead them do.

On a serious note, the situation is Palestine is immensely disturbing and tragic. The Israeli response, as well as being a moral outrage, is stupidly counterproductive. The limp criticism mounted at Israel is appalling. There's a significant difference between kidnapping a soldier to exhange for political prisoners and terrorizing a populace.

I kept him well-employed once. But those days are gone.
check this out.....hahahahahaha....
HOSPITAL CORPSMAN(n)
Abbreviated HM. Only major Navy vessels carry physicians, but all have enlisted hospital corpsmen, who are often called "Doc" by the crew. These sailors receive medical training adequate for the care of routine illnesses and injuries; more serious cases are transferred to major vessels or to hospital ashore. As sailors will be sailors, a good deal of the corpsmen's time is taken up with the treatment of venereal diseases. In fact, there is a longstanding custom ,especially when in certain foreign ports, to hold "short-arm inspection" three days after sailing (to give, e.g., gonorrhea, time to develop symptoms). As the "Doc" presides over this unpopular ceremony, he is often also called a "pecker checker", or a "chancre mechanic".

At least, partially. Extortion is never justifiable, and depriving a human being of freedom is a crime of lesa humanity. But killing innocent people for political reasons is even worse. For me (I mean in my humble opinion) Israelis are pissing out of the bowl, that is, going wrong and more wrong day after day.

I don't want to see a third party involved in this conflict.
But someone has to stop this nonsense. (Not US of course! 😞 )

As soon as an independent Iraq is stable, we will pull out.
from www.house.gov/rothman/news_releases/2006/apr5_iraq.htm:
(Washington, DC)— On Tuesday, April 4, Representative Steve Rothman (D-NJ) asked U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to say on the record that the U.S. will not build permanent military bases in Iraq. He also pressed her to explain the difference between a 'permanent' base and the 14 bases that the Pentagon has built in Iraq, which the Department of Defense characterizes as 'enduring'. Secretary Rice refused to offer an unequivocal statement against permanent U.S. bases and did not explain whether there is any difference between 'permanent' and 'enduring'.
"Calling a base in Iraq 'enduring' instead of 'permanent' doesn't change a thing," said Rothman. "The Administration's official position is that security responsibilities are shifting from U.S. to Iraqi forces, thereby allowing a reduction in U.S. troop levels in the near future. Unfortunately, the Administration's actions don't match that rhetoric. The 'enduring' bases paired with the Secretary's refusal to rule out permanent bases leads me to conclude that this President plans to keep our forces in Iraq for many years to come. The President even admitted this on March 21st when he said that our troops will be in Iraq at least through the end of 2008."
