@divegeester saidBut… but… wasn’t brexit supposed to have sorted all that out for you?
Because the Tories haven’t controlled immigration at all. In fact it’s the most here in the UK than it’s ever been and will get increasingly worse over the next 5 years.
It will be labour’s achilies heel and bring them down. Remember I said this now, today, for when you lefties are all bleating at Reform taking over next time around.
@shavixmir saidWell the party in power need to use Brexit and the political freedom it brings not just ignore it!
But… but… wasn’t brexit supposed to have sorted all that out for you?
The Tories have been complicit in creating what even Starmer referred to as a national security emergency the other day… first time he’s used that expression since Reform have been doing so.
Interestingly though Labour have not listed this new found emergency as a priority in their Manifesto ~ funny that, ain’t it.
You EU lovers have brought the the far right upon yourselves. Good luck ππ»
@shavixmir saidBecause the Tories have screwed up so many things in the past five years, even the Monster Raving Looney Party would do well against them now.
How come Labour’s going to squish the tories then?
@divegeester saidThe problem is that asylum for the politically persecuted, which was a noble cause, was supposed to exclude unrestricted entrance for economic opportunists, but the sheer numbers of entrants on EU southern borders overwhelmed the capacity of the bureaucracy to separate the two groups, so both were let in. This was further complicated by the fact that many entrants ditched their passports en route so the EU did not know any more where to deport them to. When the Libyan border became porous, after toppling Gaddafi, there was no way to stop the boats leaving shore. This problem should have been sorted at source, at the points of departure, through diplomacy; that presupposes a functional government (even if we don't like it), not the anarchy which followed upon toppling Gaddafi. Trying to send the migrants back from points of arrival (primarily Greek and Italian islands) was doomed to fail.
Sure, that might be the cause, but the problem now is not controlling it.

@shavixmir saidIt's not Johnny Foreigner they're worried about. It's Mohammed bin Foreigner.
But.. but… brexit… the UK would become a paradise without johnny foreigner there to open up kebab shops.

@divegeester saidAnd it has nothing to do with the EU.
Sneer, mock, insult then weep and wail when your ideologies fail miserably and the far right becomes a force.
Open borders, no borders even, stop being a racist, you’re a moron, you’re uneducated, we love the EU, let the migrants in they will build up our countries.
Good luck ππ»
Why don’t you admit that you were fist-fvcked by Brexit after falling for all the lies?

@shavixmir saidOf course the EU is part of the problem, the EU is part of all of the problems in Europe.
And it has nothing to do with the EU.
Why don’t you admit that you were fist-fvcked by Brexit after falling for all the lies?
And yes we, the Brits who voted for Brexit have been betrayed by the Tories and they are going to get their entitled asses handed to them on Thursday.
And many governments in Europe are going to feel the same pain; which is what your thread is about isn’t it π
@moonbus saidA number of economic indicators show that the UK is worse off now than when the Conservatives came to power: wages have not kept pace with inflation, house prices have risen, the NHS is understaffed and overburdened, etc. All of this on the Tories' watch. People are fed up with them. The vote today is probably less about immigration than domestic issues.
Because the Tories have screwed up so many things in the past five years, even the Monster Raving Looney Party would do well against them now.
