Honestly, which football would you rather watch? Would you rather sit back on your couch on a sunday afternoon, tap the ice cold keg , eat some pizza and wings and watch the Eagles destroy the Cowboys; or would you like to lay back on your couch with a plate of fish and chips and warm beer and watch Nigeria take on Bumblescum in soccer?
Granted, I have watched some World Cup games and I'm fine with it, its sports, I'll watch it with interest. But I'll take the NFL over soccer any second of any day of my life.
Henceforth, the question:
Would you rather watch an NFL football game, or a soccer match?

Now, should I wish to sit down and watch a proper sport i.e Rugby I will crack open an ice cold (yes, I said ice cold) beer, put my feet up and slivate over the thought of the lamb vindaloo I'll be eating as the whistle blows.

I don't care what you prefer I do or don't do, i did it, now what are you going to do about it? nothing, go play in your little garden you cigarette
Originally posted by PocketKingsI'm afraid I"ll have to disagree with you there. I find that the most entertaining american football match occurs in the Marx Brothers' "Horse Feathers". While I'm not entirely against it, I still find it to be a bit too immobile for me (I am an American, so don't say I can't understand it due to being a European). I personally have always prefered soccer, but I'm probably biased, since my main sport as a child was soccer.

A question mark doesn't indicate a debate for most people. Bizarrely, the question mark is used to denote a question e.g What time is it?
Now I'm not entirely sure what the relevance to my garden is in this thread but as it has two houses plus the one I live in, four garages and a swimming pool in it, I'm not entirely sure it would best be described as "little".
Oh, one more thing. A cigarette can't type so I don't think I am one of those but thanks for trying.
Soccer has come a long way in my lifetime.
I never heard of it as a kid. I grew up with NFL football after church every Sunday. In the USA this is no contest
I'd rather watch the Detroit Lions v the Buffalo Bills in a meaningless end of season game than the World Cup Final if the US isn't in it.
... and it sure don't look like that will be happening anytime soon.
Nice job Czech Rep, well done.

Neither. My idea of outdoor sport is chess in the garden!
American football is about patriotism more than sport: my college, my local NFL team. I rather suspect that the same is true for international football as well. Without the patriotism, both sports are rather dull to watch.
While I'm an avid american football fan i will admit to enjoying the world cup games quite a bit (even when the USA is not on the field).
However, I have a complaint. The constant fake injuries are driving me CRAZY! What the hell kind of screwed up sport allows cheating (taking a dive) as part of game strategy!? Get rid of the faking injury aspect of the game and I think many more americans would be interested in what would otherwise be a very entertaining sport.
