@no1marauder saidAristide’s overthrow is the outcome of a bloody coup orchestrated by the Bush administration and aided by the Chirac government in Paris. We still have colonies we like to control. We just pretend we don't.
I really don't know what you are talking about, but I haven't supported any US invasions since WWII.
Clinton invaded Haiti in 1994, but Haiti was a military dictatorship that had overthrown an elected leader at the time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Uphold_Democracy
If one is talking about "hypocrisy", your defense of Russia's invasion of Ukraine while complaining of various US interventions would take the cake.

The USA has invaded more countries than Russia. We are the real aggressors. Russia is just fighting for their survival as a nation. Nobody wants nukes next to their front porch.

@metal-brain saidIt's probably more suitable for another thread, but you've offered nothing showing Lincoln was some sort of monster for responding to violent revolution with force.
He was denied his heart medication, was being poisoned and denied him examination by Russian doctors. All of that was what Milosevic said and it was covered up or alleged to be a lie so they could pretend he didn't say it.
They could not have him expose what hypocrites they were. He was a saint compared to Lincoln. General Grant was a butcher of human beings. Worse tha ...[text shortened]... write history.

@metal-brain saidI had forgotten about that one. But it's still just a "whataboutism"; I opposed it at the time and feel it was unjustified.

There was no imminent threat to Russia that justified an invasion of Ukraine in 2022. It was a Crime Against Peace regardless of what the US or any other country has done in the past.
@metal-brain saidI never claimed he was "some sort of monster".

Essentially the wars in Yugoslavia were border disputes; Milosevic had recognized (reluctantly) the independence of Bosnia, Croatia and the other republics but wanted Serb ethnic areas incorporated into Serbia.

@averagejoe1 saidWhat open borders? Biden has gone Trump at the border. Presidents change, but policies don't change much. It is the same regime no matter who they put in office.
Laughable that liberals are rapping about Free Market Economy. You have GOT to be chewing your pillows. Have you kids ever realized, for example, that you cannot have open borders and welfare at the same time?

Whataboutism is just the cowardly way out of acknowledging indisputable hypocrisy. I am not asking you to defend hypocrisy even though I think you would like to for partisan reasons. I am only asking you to acknowledging the hypocrisy. Can you do that?
@metal-brain saidMB says policies, don’t change much. This is like a forum in Mars.

@averagejoe1 saidBorder policy has not changed. The rich are still getting richer while the poor are getting poorer. What has changed?

@metal-brain saidSomeone else?
This started because someone else claimed totalitarianism = fascism.
The first person to use the word "fascist" in this thread was... you!
