I saw a documentary called "Jesus Camp" just now. It was a bone chilling horror story that continues to accrue more and more damage upon potentially civilized nations like America every day.
A certain western government which has been famous for supposedly thwarting the attempts of those who antidisestablishmentarianistically seek to embed members of their flock upon seats of high government has seen the obvious effects of what will happen if fundamentalists are allowed their current unchecked mission toward a single global government and religion.
My question to you is at what point should a civilized people intervene on behalf of humanity and put some sort of leash (government appointed observation, etc.) on these people?

Yes, if the leashes are to keep rabid dogs away from attacking normal ones. Guess you caught me in a contradiction. I am sure you know what I meant, though.
As a matter of opinion some may say that when fundamentalists become "terrorists" then intervention is needed. I am afraid I fail to see the difference between the two extremes. When a person is willing to lay down his or her life for any kind of belief system whether it be in support of a god or love of a country the sanity of all concerned should be examined.
When the following of a specific cult target a prospective recruit with their radical ideas is it abusive?
Is it abusive to target another's children?

Really the question is what types of checks and balances should we have on whoever is governing over us? I say the least centralized forms of governments are the best. Unfortunatly, the US government seems to inch towards collectivism every year. What should concern you is not if we have "good" leaders, rather, what should concern you is what type of damage can a "bad" leader inflict? Inevitably, you will get a "bad egg" in the mix so you best prepare for it through checks and balances.
