This was not about my view of the 'rest of the world',
it is about my view of the "good things about the USA"

how the hell do you get off with having 'jails that actually release prisoners...' and 'enviromental laws' in that list? unless you are being very sarcastic.
2 - about our prisons - true as well as the DNA program to release innocent incarcerated persons...England has nothing of the sort and are still probably putting people in debters prisons
3 - other nations vomit their industrial waste into the atmoshere due to no environmental regulations. We could also be drilling to oil all over the US and that would reduce our puchase of foreign oil, but we don't
Its a pity that you cannot start a post about "what is good about England" huh? why don't you try it and do and say something positive for once in your amoebic existance?
I very much like the original thoughts behind you country. To be free and that the people must throw off governments that to bad things and choose new watchers etc.
I like the beautiful landscape and the peace and silence there.
It is granted that your hamburgers taste better than anywhere else.
I like and dislike your school system (university is a great time for having sex ! but your school system only supports the rich with a few exceptions.
I dislike the hostorical genocide of the US (hey I am German and we have our own history I know that).
I dislike the slavery and today´s seperation between races and all the hatred.
I dislike all of your media, politics, behaviours etc.
Chicago is about okay (78 % original German Donauschwaben were the root of former Chicago).
Honest and true just my 2 cents

Things like "environmental laws, labor [sic] laws, more justice and rights for the average man" etc etc look quite bizarre from this side of the Ocean. Looks to me that the US is severely lacking on these points but I am open to persuasion of course.

I lived in Germany and made many German friends. When I refer to Germany in the negative its only with regard to the bad element in the past. Note too that I do not include German generals or the common soldiers who fought in WWII as they were just doing their duty are were for the most part honorable. I certainly do not include any contemporary Germans in Germany today, not at all.
Start a post about what is bad about the USA if you like and we can all see the other side of the coin - right?

anybody know what the "make a wish foundation is?"
Its where people with terminal cancer simply "make a wish (sadly probably their last wish) and the foundation commits resources to fulfill it.
Usually something like meeting a sports hero or celebrity or visiting a national part or some beautiful place....befor they die.
I'd say that is a good thing.

I do not take this to be "good things ONLY about the USA''. no exclusivity clause, eh.
So I'm just presenting my opinion on 'good things about the USA'.
Unless othwise stated, each line does not take away from any other nation with a similar enity.
Just the line items which say or imply that they is (or could be) more of or only or somthing to that effect.
Do you have a problem with that? mikey?

free press...
I'm sure your press is perfectly free to write what they want...
However:
- Star Wars and US movies in general (like pulp fiction and the big Lebowski).
- Tom Waits and Bob Dylan
- Coca Cola's taste (their morals aren't anything to be proud about though)
- The various landscapes that can be found
- Bill Hicks
