After much hand wringing about the southern border, republicans crafted a bipartisan bill that would have sent resources to the southern border. Both Republicans and Democrats were lining up to pass this much needed legislation - until...Last Sunday night when "The Donald" told GOP leadership to kill it because he wanted to take credit for it, and no one else.
The bill would grant Republicans many of its long-held immigration demands—along with tens of billions of dollars in funding for border security and aid to Ukraine—but the former president, who maintains massive influence on the GOP, has privately pressured Republicans to oppose it, fearing that its passage might help Joe Biden win reelection.
While Democratic leadership serves the needs of the American people, GOP leadership serves only one man.

@mchill saidwe've been saying for years that republicans fuk things up when they are in the majority then obstruct democrats as much as possible when they aren't

it's just a little weird for it to be so fukin brazen. Like all pretense has been abandoned. Well, not that weird to be honest, the republican voter base is so dumb that the GOP can't even be bothered to keep up appearances
@shavixmir saidNever a truer word...
It's a case of sheeple following sheeple and getting each other's heads stuck up someone else's arse.
@kmax87
What, none of the ultrarightwingnut crowd telling us it is BIDEN'S fault?
I wonder how much longer the squeaker of the house Johnson will still be squeaker of the house, now that he has proved to be such an effective bill maker, like how well his impeachment deal just went, eh besides being a tame trumpite falling over dead after Trump ordered him to kill the border bill because we CAN'T have Biden get any kind of credit now can we.

GOP always says they want government run like a business. So then the boss asks to take the next few months to fix the border. Fix it! Then you do it, hook it to Ukraine aide so the Dems will vote for it, write it otherwise exactly for your own parties vote.
4 months later boss asks what you did. You have done nothing. Nothing. And yet boss says good job?
You're the boss, you're the voter putting up with this garbage dumpster fire of a political party.
@shavixmir saidThat would make a fetching painting, would it not? 😏

@mchill saidYou've nailed it. Congress no longer sets policy. The President no longer sets policy. Elected officials no longer set policy. Policy is being set by a man tweeting from the bleachers. That's not democracy anymore, neither is it a republic.

@djj saidMaybe but his core beliefs about workers and building infrastructure to increase capacity is something real, something he will never forget or try to sell down the river instead of the narcissistic pay the rich/rob the poor shtick of the Trump Crime Syndicate Family.
@kmax87
But it's ok for the country being run by a plagiarising old fart with dementia memory who can't find his way off a stage? Dude.
@mchill saidYou can lead Republicans to the House, but you can't make them govern.
