Of course Israel has a constitution you dimwit, it just isn't all written down in a single document. Similar to the UK really.

The Israeli constitution is a work-in-progress since 1948 and has not been finalised. There is however a series of laws and Guidelines that regulate every aspect of life in Israel.

Im no expert on these documents but I will bet that there is no comparable statement like what the Hamas has in theirs.
I hate to disagree with Rajk999, but Israel actually does have a constitution, despite the fact that it is not written down in a single document. Israel is one of only three countries in the world without a "written" constitution (although their constitution is written, just not in a single document) then other two countries are UK and NZ. There are several arguments in favour of the view that this kind of constitution is actually better than a "written" one, but I wont go into all these now, it would remind me of my Public Law tutorials!

Whatever wikipedia says, Israel has a constitution. Every orginisation has a constitution, every country has a very formal constitution. In fact, every country has a written constitution, but Israel's is not written down in a single document. This doesn't alter the fact that they do have a constitution.

OK, maybe this is just semantics, but how come there are organisations dedicated to creating a constitution for israel?
http://www.cfisrael.org//home.html, for example.

Perhaps they wish to give Israel a written constitution, in a single document. There are plenty people who wish to do the same for the UK.

Well, the link I gave is to a Knesset committee, so this isn't just a pressure group.

They pose a number of questions they would want answered by a constitution, which suggests that, if they have a constitution, it isnt complete.

The declaration of independence in 1948 says they should have a written constitution, but they've never got there, apparently because of conflicts between religious and secular elements.

Well, perhaps their constitution is evolving, and isn't the way they want it to be. I am no expert on the Israeli constitution really, it was the UK constitution which I studied in depth.

Considering I have just spent one year of my life studying the UK constitution at University, I will not accept the word of an unreasonable communist such as yourself to contradict all the professors at the best law school in Scotland and my own personal study.

You are simply wrong, I can't even be bothered going into an argument with you about this, because you are not a sane or reasonable individual.

Article Seven. The Universality of Hamas:

"..... the Hamas has been looking forward to implement Allah’s promise whatever time it might take. The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fig ...[text shortened]... ish tree .... "

How should we interprete this sentence applied to the present situation ?
This doesn't worry me much more than Bible prophecy. When was this charter written -- when Hamas was 12 intellectual friends meeting in a basement?

Hamas (like all Palestinian Arabs) is upset about the Jews migrating to Israel. Some agree they have a legitimate complaint that should be addressed. Others...well, they seem to start foaming at the mouth when people suggest Arabs have rights, too. I don't understand that point of view, but whatever.

The rhetoric has gotten heated. I think when Hamas got elected, that was a perfect time to engage and challenge them on their rhetoric. It's clear from listening to the Hamas PM and his advisors that they would have been ready to start ratcheting that stuff down -- in exchange for perfectly reasonable concessions.

Instead, we called them 'terrorists', turned our backs on them, and tried to keep Fatah limping along. In time, we will find that was as bad a mistake as trying to prop up the Republic of South Vietnam -- another corrupt, useless regime that was without popular support.
