Phobias have nothing to do with hate. Here is the actual definition:
Homophobia- Fear of sameness, monotony or of homosexuality or of becoming homosexual.

You use it to imply that anyone who does not care for homosexuality, fears it. You use it to call someone a name.

Look, homophobia isn't an 'opposing view'

I didn't say it was.
royalchicken I,m suddenly alektorophobic 😉
I got my definition from dictionary.com. Merriam-Webster agrees (irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals).

I would guess at one point it was strictly fear of but has now broadened to become the meaning above.

So let's quote Yoda then, shall we?

Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate...hate leads to suffering.....

The cause of homophobia is fear, but it projects itself as hatred.

🙂

Phobias are emotional and physical reactions to feared objects or situations, projected as:

Feelings of panic, dread, horror, or terror.
Reactions that are automatic and uncontrollable, practically taking over the person’s thoughts.
Rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, trembling, and an overwhelming desire to flee the situation.
