"MIAMI - The mild 2006 Atlantic hurricane season draws to a close Thursday without a single hurricane striking the United States — a stark contrast to the record-breaking 2005 season that killed more than 1,500 people and left thousands homeless along the Gulf Coast. "

Yep. But not really all that surprising considering this is an El nino year.
"While ENSO events are basically in phase between the Pacific and Indian Oceans, ENSO events in the Atlantic Ocean lag behind those in the Pacific by 12 to 18 months. "

Originally posted by scottishinnzUS hurricanes almost always come from the Atlantic. if Atlantic ENSO effects lag El Nino by 12-18 months, and El Nino results in a mild hurricane season, and this year is an El Nino year, we would expect the hurricane season 12-18 months from now to be mild, not the current one.

If you'd read the Wiki entry further you'd have seen this;
"El Niño is associated with decreased hurricane activity in the Atlantic, especially south of 25º N; this reduction is largely due to stronger wind shear over the tropics."

Yep, the sky is falling and we're all screwed .. unless we all listen to scott and do exactly as he says.
He's smarter than we are .. he's made it all the way to teacher.
That should explain everything.
I'm not interested in trying to tell you to do anything. There are people eminently more qualified to do that than me. All I think is that you should listen to them.

The earth could freeze solid and I couldn't care less. If WWIII began tomorrow .. i'd like it. Like Irans nutter President .. i'd love to watch the end of the world come right at me.
In other words .. i'd love to take everyone of you limp-dicked pseudo intellectuals with me ... asap.
Global warming is another BS "prediction" by scientests working to ... get paid for proving Global warming is real.
Scientests "prove" all kinds of crap ... then 25 yrs later we find out that proof needs a little adjustment ... like a 180 degree adjustment.
Coffee is bad for you .. no wait. Milk is good for you .. no wait.
Mostly corporate whores working to "prove" coffee/milk/whatever is good/bad for you.
Pick a side and pay a scientest to "prove" your point for you. He surely will .. regardless which side of the issue you may want "proven".
Science ain't God .. it's humans trying to make sense of it all .. and doing a "human" job of it.
Mostly a bunch of guys living off Government grants doing "studies" to prove they need more money to do more studies .. or "teachers" of science (those not qualified to actually DO anything)
Those that can .. do. Those that can't ... teach.
